The women represent the 46,000 women that are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK, and were embarking on a 'pink march' from London's Tower Bridge through the capital which has the lowest uptake of breast cancer screening in the country. Dressed head to toe in pink camouflage, they were encouraging women to 'join the fight for women's survival' by not ignoring their screening invitations and helping to raise funds for Cancer Research UK to fight breast cancer. Lt. Cdr. Rachel Scandling, who is shortly due to go on active service in Afghanistan, elected to have a double mastectomy after tests confirmed she carried a gene greatly increasing her chances of cancer. All of the 46 participants have been affected by the disease in some way and amongst them were breast cancer survivors Anne Nolan and Diana Moran...For interviews, further images and information please contact Sophie Raine or Laura Bryce at Frank PR on 0207 693 6999/ 0781 309 5242 / 0789 032 9191 or email cancerresearchuk@frankpr.it
