  • Photo by Ant Upton."Lt. Cdr. Rachel Scandling leads 46 women at the start line of the 'pink march' through central London for Cancer Research UK ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The women represent the 46,000 women that are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK, and were embarking on a 'pink march' from London's Tower Bridge through the capital which has the lowest uptake of breast cancer screening in the country. Dressed head to toe in pink camouflage, they were encouraging women to 'join the fight for women's survival' by not ignoring their screening invitations and helping to raise funds for Cancer Research UK to fight breast cancer. Lt. Cdr. Rachel Scandling, who is shortly due to go on active service in Afghanistan, elected to have a double mastectomy after tests confirmed she carried a gene greatly increasing her chances of cancer. All of the 46 participants have been affected by the disease in some way and amongst them were breast cancer survivors Anne Nolan and Diana Moran...For interviews, further images and information please contact Sophie Raine or Laura Bryce at Frank PR on 0207 693 6999/ 0781 309 5242 / 0789 032 9191 or email cancerresearchuk@frankpr.it

  • 20070721 Copyright Anthony Upton 2007©.Free for editorial use image, please credit: Anthony Upton.(L-R) Jack Osborne's team.On Saturday 21st July, the teams taking on the Mongol Rally gathered along North Carriage Drive in London's Hyde Park to say their goodbyes before heading off for 10,000 miles of bad roads, non-existent roads, mountain ranges, deserts and everything in between, maybe even the odd highway bandit. The Mongol Rally challenges almost 200 teams from countries around the world to drive from London to Mongolia in cars most people wouldn't use for the shopping run. Each team has to raise at least £1000 for the rally charities which is donated directly to the awesome projects that benefit communities along the route and in Mongolia. The Mongol Rally started in 2004 with just 6 cars and now is a 200-strong collection of teams from round the world who need more from their summer holiday. Not interested in sitting around on the beach, they will be driving a third of the way round the planet in a tiny 1-litre car, and raising huge sums of money for charity.
